This is the real photo of the morning; Finn insisting on being held and wanting to eat ;) Thanks @beckytrejo for the recipe, it's delicious! I used almonds and pecans with cinnamon and nutmeg (I didn't have cardamom). I mixed cherries with the blackberries and ended up using some vanilla yogurt as a little topping. She picked Sacajawea as her theme and I couldn't have been happier. What a fascinating individual she was! I definitely want to learn more about the woman who was kidnapped from her tribe, sold as a slave to a Settler, became one of his wives, set off with him to assist two men named Lewis and Clark on an expedition because she knew both English and the Shoshone language. She was pregnant and had her first child during the expedition, saved them from starvation a few times and gave her beaded belt to them so they could trade it for a fur coat for the president. And in His providence, she found her tribe and family again. I thought about what it might look like and what I would like from it. I foresaw a sprawling backyard with lots of green and shade. Of bright rooms with chalkboard walls. Weathered tables, comfy chairs and morning coffee and tea with friends. I thought about so many things like having breakfast outside and seeing my kids free and roaming in our backyard. My heart is yearning but more so it lead me to pray. To not make idols of things but to learn to find joy in Him wherever we may be. To have faith and ask for our heart's desire within His will and to be patient. Patience and joy while trusting and having faith in Him.
